Q. Who should attend?
A.The Teaching and Learning Forum is for all academic staff who are interested in pedagogical issues and for all members of the university community who are keen to explore ways to improve the quality of the university experience for students. Casual, sessional and part time staff and postgraduate students are encouraged to attend.
Q. Where is the Forum being held?
A. The Forum is being held on the South St campus of Murdoch University which is located about 15 kilometres south of the Perth Central Business District and eight kilometres east of the port city of Fremantle. South Street, a major arterial road, forms the northern boundary of the campus. The Kwinana Freeway is the main access route from the northern and southern suburbs. Buses run regularly between Perth and Murdoch University and, Fremantle and Murdoch University. The Circle Route bus passes Murdoch University along South Street. The peaceful bushland setting of the Murdoch Campus makes it one of the most beautiful University campuses in Australia. The grounds surrounding the University buildings have been landscaped to include predominantly Australian native trees and shrubs. The plants provide an interesting collection of Australian flora which is a distinctive attraction.
Q. What are the presentation options?
A. Presentations will be 15-20 minutes in one of the following options:
- Leading a round table discussion
- Presenting an idea or experience
- Presenting a refereed formal paper
- Presenting an hour long workshop
generating an idea for ‘birds of a feather’ sessions
Q. What are the important dates?
A.
- If you wish your paper to be considered for publication in the refereed proceedings
you must submit a full paper by 15 October 2004
- For all other presentations submit only an abstract by 12
November 2004
- Acceptance of refereed papers will be confirmed by 3 December
2004
- Acceptance of abstracts will be confirmed by 3 December
2004
- Early Bird Registration Deadline: 10 December 2004
Q. Is there a format for submitting your abstract?
A.
- Format: e-mail attachment
- Word processor: MS Word
- Document name: Use your last name and first initial
of your first name, eg. smithbTLF2005
- Style: Use 'normal style' only
- Margins: 2.5 cms all around
- Title of session: Arial font, 14 point, bold
- Three key words relating to the theme of the abstract:
11 point
- Abstract: Arial font, 11 point (no more than 300
words)
- Presenter details: Arial font, 11 point, including:
–Name of session presenter/coordinator
–Position and institution
–Contact details (address, telephone, fax, e-mail)
–Other presenter (if relevant)
Q. Will papers be reviewed?
A. The Forum has two streams for submitting a paper: non refereed
and refereed. If you wish to submit a paper for refereeing, please make this
clear on your abstract.
Q. Will papers be published?
A. All refereed papers will be published digitally.
Q. What are the registration fees – are all activities
included in the fee?
A. The registration fees are (including GST):
- Early Bird Registration $190
- Full Registration $220
- Full time Student Registration $120
- One Day Standard Registration $180
- One Day Student Registration $70
The Forum dinner on Thursday evening 3 February 2005 is included in the fees. If you wish to invite a guest to the dinner the cost is $42.00.
Please Note: Day Registration does not include the Forum dinner.
Abstracts should provide sufficient detail to assist delegates in making their selections.
Please format abstracts and papers according to the guidelines.
