Type of Publication

Accepted proposals will be published in full on the TL Forum website, and in Abstract format in the Forum's printed booklet that is issued to all registrants. Paper and Workshop proposals must include an Abstract not exceeding 300 words.

Papers submitted in the category Refereed research paper must be consistent with DEST specifications for refereed research papers in the category 'Conference publication' see (http://www.dest.gov.au/highered/research/herdc.htm & http://www.dest.gov.au/highered/research/documents/specs2004.pdf).

The TL Forum's peer review process for these submissions will be in accord with DEST specifications (independent, qualified expert review; double blind reviews conducted on the full articles, prior to publication). Papers must be research papers, with a strong emphasis upon the reporting of new knowledge.

Papers submitted in the category TLF refereed professional practice paper must satisfy the TL Forum's peer review process that the content has sufficient academic merit to warrant a Forum presentation and publication in the TL Forum Proceedings. The review process will recognise contributions in any aspect of scholarly writing for teaching and learning purposes that is not represented adequately and appropriately within the limits of DEST's 'refereed research' definition. The TLF refereed professional practice category is not 'non-research' and it is not 'non-refereed', it is positively linked towards emphasising and 'showcasing' creativity, leadership and excellence in teaching and learning.

Proposals submitted in the category Abstract only publication will be assessed by the TL Forum Committee without use of an external review panel. Whilst 'Abstract only' submissions will be accorded, as best we can, a fair chance at securing an allocation of a presentation timeslot, proposals that seek one of the longer time allocations (Round table or Workshop) will be stronger if supported by a submission for full 'paper' publication.
