Initially from a teaching background, Christina Ballantyne has worked
at Murdoch University since 1989 and is currently the Senior Research Officer
in Institutional Research and Evaluation. Christina specialises in survey
research methodology and has expertise in questionnaire design, qualitative
and quantitative methodology, and formative and on-line evaluation of
teaching.
Christina is responsible for the student evaluation of teaching and units
throughout the university, the Graduate Destination Survey/Course Experience
Questionnaire (GDS/CEQ) and the Postgraduate Research Experience Questionnaire
(PREQ) at Murdoch and a variety of other institutional research projects
both ongoing and one-off. She is a member of the national Survey Reference
Group of the Graduate Careers Council of Australia (GCCA), which informs
the conduct of the GDS/CEQ/PREQ across Australia.
Other responsibilities include providing survey advice to staff and students
carrying out research. Christina has an interest in online surveys and
in formative evaluation of teaching. She provides advice to academic staff
on the different ways of collecting feedback from their students, with
particular reference to ensuring that students have knowledge that their
feedback is both valued and used.
