Student Learning Workshops

Student Learning offers a range of workshops in language and literacy, numeracy, English language for non-native speakers (ESL) and academic skills during both semester teaching weeks and non-teaching weeks. These workshops are all free and non-credit bearing. They include both general academic skills workshops and those designed to support specific units.

In both teaching and non-teaching weeks there are general academic skills workshops. Specialist workshops are offered for students for whom English is a second language (ESL) to develop English and academic skills during semester teaching weeks.

Unit specific workshops are developed in liaison with the unit coordinators and are advertised through the unit lectures. Marian Kemp, Lecturer in Numeracy, conducts a range of numeracy support workshops for students studying mathematics, statistics, education and psychology. Other Student Learning staff conduct workshops on a range of topics such as essay, critique and report writing, grammar and team building.
