- Appointments are normally for 30 minutes, but may occasionally be extended
to a maximum of an hour.
- Only one appointment per student, per week is possible except in exceptional

What we do not do
- We do not provide a complete proof reading service. The final responsibility
for finished assignment lies with you, including proofreading.
- We do not provide intensive emotional counselling.
- We do not provide advice on unit or course choices or careers.
- We do not normally tutor students on their unit content.
How Student Learning staff work with you
We work developmentally. We aim to foster independence and to encourage you to
collaborate with other students to develop your skills. We seek to help you identify
and understand the learning demands placed on you.
In an individual consultation we can assist you with:
- reading, researching, writing assignments, numeracy, critical thinking, problem
solving, study management and learning with others
- language support, if English is not your first language
- support and advocacy if you are new to the University culture
- clarifying the academic demands placed on you
- referral to other support services according to need.
