Resources
Learning and language and academic skills development support are provided free to Murdoch students
and given in a number of different ways.
Small groups
- Free workshops are held throughout the year during both semester teaching weeks and non-teaching
weeks. A comprehensive program of skills-building workshops including
Essay Writing and Critical Thinking is provided.
- Support is available for groups of students with special needs, such as students from Equity groups,
students for whom English is a second language (ESL), or those studying
at a distance or online.
- Specialised support is also available for postgraduate students.
Individual consultations
Students can 'drop in' to the Student Learning Resource Centre for queries that take only a few minutes
to answer, or can arrange an appointment with Student Learning reception when longer discussions are
needed.
Credit unit – TLC120: Introduction to University Learning
First year students experiencing study difficulties and considering withdrawing are encouraged to
enrol in the special credit unit, TLC120: Introduction to University

Foundation units
Student Learning supports the learning skills component of foundation units. Assistance is provided
in the context of students' studies.
