Resources

Learning and language and academic skills development support are provided free to Murdoch students and given in a number of different ways.

Small groups

  • Free workshops are held throughout the year during both semester teaching weeks and non-teaching weeks. A comprehensive program of skills-building workshops including Essay Writing and Critical Thinking is provided.
  • Support is available for groups of students with special needs, such as students from Equity groups, students for whom English is a second language (ESL), or those studying at a distance or online.
  • Specialised support is also available for postgraduate students.

Individual consultations

Students can 'drop in' to the Student Learning Centre office in the Learning Common for queries that take only a few minutes to answer, or can arrange an appointment with Student Learning Centre reception when longer discussions are needed.

Credit unit – TLC120: Introduction to University Learning

First year students experiencing study difficulties and considering withdrawing are encouraged to enrol in the special credit unit, TLC120: Introduction to University Learning. Contact Student Learning Centre reception for further details.

Foundation units

The Student Learning Centre supports the learning skills component of foundation units. Assistance is provided in the context of students' studies.
