OnTrack Program Logo Who May Apply?
OnTrack is a free pre-university program which provides an alternative entry into university for people who have experienced educational disruption or disadvantage due to family, financial, social, physical, medical, disability or other circumstances.

Applications are also open to residents of rural or remote locations, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people, mature-aged, people who are long-term unemployed or in receipt of a government pension or low income, refugees or humanitarian visa holders, and women who are keen to study in one of the University's Engineering courses. In addition, OnTrack will consider Year 12 students not enrolled in TEE subjects who have, or are, experiencing significant family or personal disruption.

The Program Components
OnTrack provides students with both academic learning skills and an awareness of university culture, vital for success in tertiary education. It consists of three modules and is delivered over a 14 week period with two one week breaks, allowing students to adapt to semester-long study demands, therefore giving them a more realistic sense of university study and extra time to develop their skills. The first module introduces generic skills, knowledge and values required for university study and provides students with a supportive learning environment. Students are coached in the areas of literacy, numeracy, critical thinking, problem solving, time management, collaborative learning, presentations, library research and computer skills. Progression into the second and third modules subsequently allows the student to engage more deeply with their own particular field of study.
