Assistance for postgraduate students at the Student Learning Centre
Dr Julia Hobson runs a weekly writing seminar for coursework and research postgraduate students (which starts each semester in week 4). In these two hour workshops students are given reading, writing and researching tips, encouraged to work on drafts and assisted to develop editing skills.
This semester (2009) the seminar is being run on a Thursday 9.30-11.30am in the Library, LC 2.005D. All postgraduate students are welcome to attend and can join in at any stage. Please note the seminars are not run in non-teaching weeks.
In second semester the seminar will recommence in week 4 but will be scheduled on a different day.
If postgraduate students cannot attend the seminar Dr Hobson also runs the Postgraduate Student blog at http://blogs.murdoch.edu.au/tlc27708g/
Useful links to other sites plus tips on research writing and organization are regularly posted here. Comments from students are also welcome.
Each Wednesday morning postgraduate students can make appointments to see Dr Hobson in the Learning Common. Bookings can be made through the reception at the Student Learning Centre on 93602142.
Postgraduate students are also welcome to contact Dr Hobson directly to make an appointment on J.Hobson@murdoch.edu.au. It can take at least a week to get in for an appointment.
