Audience: Academic and Sessional Staff
DATE & TIME WORKSHOP: Handling diversity in Murdoch classrooms VENUE
Wednesday
26 March 2008
1.30 - 3.30pm

In this session I shall be aiming to create awareness of the concepts of diversity and inter-cultural competence. Diversity is often associated with race and cultural differences however it encompasses a range of other differences that we, as academics, need to be aware of during our interactions with students and peers. Underpinning these compliance issues lie our legal and ethical responsibilities under the Equal Opportunity laws. During the session we shall examine various classroom scenarios and develop our own means to deal with them.
