Federal and State Legislations that Guide our Policies
The following Federal and State legislations underpin Murdoch's Equal Opportunity Principles:
- Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA)
- Disability Services Act 1992 (WA)
- Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Commonwealth)
- Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Commonwealth)
- Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission Act 1986 (Commonwealth)
- Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Commonwealth)
- Workplace Relations Act 1996 (Commonwealth)
- Equal Opportunity For Women In The Workplace Act 1999 (Commonwealth).
The Federal and State legislations make discrimination in education and employment unlawful, on
the grounds of: sex, sexual orientation, marital status, pregnancy and potential pregnancy, breastfeeding
(employment only), impairment (including physiological, psychological and intellectual disabilities),
religious or political conviction, race, colour, national extraction, social origin, family responsibilities
and family status, age, sexual harassment, gender history and gender reassignment, racial harassment,
and disability harassment.
Murdoch has developed a range of plans, policies and initiatives to support equity in education
and employment.
