Harmony Week 2007 International Film Festival.

International Film Festival

The City of Melville, Murdoch University and the Film and Television Institute (FTI) are pleased to present the City of Melville International Film Festival 2007 (19 March - 24 March, 2007).

The Nexus Theatre at Murdoch University will host the event. Over one thousand people are expected to attend the festival to view a line up of acclaimed films from around the globe.

Short Film Competition

We are expanding the program and welcoming local students and film-makers to enter the Harmony Short-Film Competition. This unique opportunity aims to promote local film makers and stimulate interest in creative film making in Western Australia. There are prizes for first, second and third places, kindly sponsored by FTI, STA Travel and Garden City.

Winners will be acknowledged at the opening night on Monday 19 March and their awarded works will be screened during the festival.

We are looking for films that relate to the theme "Harmony" in its broadest sense. Each short film must be no longer than 7 minutes including titles and credits and must be in English or have English subtitles.

Entry is free and open now. All works must be submitted on VHS or DVD by Friday 3 February 2007.

All short listed entrants will be notified by email or post. For further enquiries contact Lucy Jarvis at harmonyfilmfestival@gmail.com or download the conditions and entry form.

The films were carefully selected to provoke dialogue and thoughts on racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance. I am pleased that we were able to get a good number of staff, students and community members to participate in the Murdoch University's Harmony Week event. A total of 846 people attended. Thanks once again – Casta.
