Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit 2003

In years 2000 and 2001, Murdoch University won the Prime Minister's National Employer of the Year Award and the Telstra Award, as well as the Telstra Employer of the Year Award for its long-term commitment to employing people with a disability.

Dr Casta Tungaraza, Manager, Equal Opportunity and Social Justice Section, Murdoch University, thanks all staff members at Murdoch for their continuing support towards providing employment opportunities to people with special needs.

In October 2003 Murdoch University won the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit 2003 in appreciation of its commendable work in the field of providing employment and work-experience opportunities to people with special needs.

The Equal Opportunity and Social Justice Section (EOSJS)of Murdoch University was delighted for the recognition.

In its continuing program to improve employment access for people with special needs, the EOSJS organised a national Assistive Technology Expo in October 2003.

Murdoch University's vision towards facilitating job access for people with special needs is not only to create job opportunities, but also to educate the wider and the business communities on what and how people-with-special-needs can perform, rather than what they cannot do.

Dr Casta Tungaraza, Manager, Equal Opportunity and Social Justice Section, Murdoch University thanked the Murdoch community for its continuing support to provide work-experience opportunities to the special needs group. Dr Tungaraza also congratulated Options Employment by Good Samaritan Industries – Cannington and Canning Vale branches along with CRS Australia and other agencies for their committed partnership in this field with the University.
