Launch of the Australian Academy of Race Relations
The Chief Justice of Western Australia, Hon Justice David Malcolm AC launched the Australian Academy
of Race Relations (AARR) on 24 June 2004 in Murdoch University.
Professor Kateryna Longley, Pro Vice Chancellor – Regional Development, Murdoch University welcomed
guests to Murdoch University and provided a brief outline of how the partnership between Social
Change and Social Equity (SCASE)
and the Academy came to be and the benefits to Murdoch University, researchers and the community.
Dr Casta Tungaraza, Manager, Equal Opportunity and Social Justice, Murdoch University gave a background
of the Academy.
Ms Marie Taylor, Nungar Elder and Associate Lecturer, Kulbardi Aboriginal Centre, Murdoch University
gave a Nungar Welcome to the guests.
