Winners of the 2006 Vice-Chancellor's Citations for Excellence in Enhancing Learning


Eight staff from Murdoch University have been selected to receive the Vice Chancellors Citation for Excellence in Enhancing Learning in 2006. These awards are designed to recognize the many and diverse contributions that combine to create effective learning environments. Recipients are awarded a $1000 grant and a citation which describes the distinctive contribution of the recipient to excellent learning and teaching at Murdoch. The recipients are eligible for nomination to the national Carrick Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning.

The recipients for 2006, with details of their citation, are:

Ms Geraldine Box
For sustained commitment to equity students through the development and administration of enabling programs and innovative support services, and providing on going support for equity students.

Dr Christine Creagh
For excellence and passion in establishing and maintaining and outstanding learning environment for her students.

Curriculum Resource Centre
Irene Paterson, Barbara Smith, Jennifer Ritzrow, Leanne Munyard

For specialist expertise in advice and evaluation of selected resources to provide a quality centre to enhance the learning experience of student teachers.

Dr Julia Hobson
For specialist expertise in the design, development and teaching of support programs for postgraduate students (both research and by course work) at Murdoch University.

Associate Professor Lorraine Marshall
For innovation, sustained refinement and leadership in the integration of generic skills and content in first year Foundation Units between 1976 and 2006.

Dr Jennifer Mills
For the design, development and sharing of teaching resources and implementation of workshops to enhance professional communication and workplace skills for veterinary students.

Dr Angus Morrison-Saunders
For ongoing contribution to enhancing engagement, effectiveness and efficiency in student learning.

Dr Ravi Tiwari
For developing an innovative teaching strategy which enhances student engagement and learning, and motivates students to learn by using clear objectives and expectations.

The following six recipients received a national Carrick Citation for their outstanding contribution to learning in the University (Carrick Institute):
