Other ways of collecting feedback
An end of semester questionnaire is only one way of getting feedback from your students. The links below provided some suggestion of other ways.
These strategies are also useful for small classes where statistical procedures are inappropriate. If you are collecting feedback at the end of semester, we are happy to hold on to student responses till after the exam period. Simply return to David Collings, TLC with unit co-ordinator details.
If you have used any other strategy for collecting student feedback which you have found particularly useful and which you would like to share with others, please contact Christina Ballantyne.
Some general guidelines on getting student feedback -
- don't overuse
- always be prepared to respond to feedback and inform students what changes you will or will not make (and why)
- don't ask specific questions about aspects of your unit or teaching that you will not or cannot change
- students need to be confident that any written feedback they give is anonymous
- when analysing open-ended written feedback it is useful to put responses into bundles which relate to particular themes.
