Provision of Teaching Materials — 1st Semester 2007

This document provides guidelines for the preparation of print-based unit materials for semester 1, 2007. These include Unit Readers, Laboratory Manuals, Unit Information and Learning Guides (UILG), etc.

Deadline 22 December 2006

Requisitions and master copies of unit materials should be received by Murdoch Print by 22 December 2006.

Requisitions

The responsibility for specifying print quantities is shown in the table below. In many cases, Murdoch Print (together with Open and Distance Education) will determine the number of copies from historical data. Schools need to specify numbers on their requisition for school use and for UILGs for internal students.

  UILG Unit Readers, etc.
Internal School Murdoch Print
External Murdoch Print Murdoch Print
School use (tutor copies, etc.) School School

Requisitions should indicate the unit start date, the University campuses at which the unit is being offered, and whether the unit has external students.

Unit Information and Learning Guides

Unit coordinators develop UILG materials in accordance with FLIC guidelines and the Guide to Unit Quality. According to DEST rules, UILGs must be made available to all students free of charge and may not be sold by the bookshop, either as part of the unit reader, or shrink wrapped with a unit reader.

Unit Readers, Laboratory Manuals, etc

Unit Readers should be developed according to the guidelines in the Guide to Unit Quality. According to current interpretation of DEST rules, all external students must receive Unit Readers free of charge.

Murdoch Print has electronic versions of all previous materials produced and if your teaching material has not changed, or only changed slightly, we can make minor changes to the latest version held in our database.

Schools will no longer need to make reprint requests to Murdoch Print unless they are for school use only. Open and Distance Education will make reprint requests for external students based on changing enrolment numbers. Internal students requiring extra Unit Readers can order them online using UPrint in the bookshop. Materials will be available to them within two working days.
