ALTC Fellowship Scheme
The ALTC Fellowship Scheme is a program of fellowships aimed to promote and
strongly position learning and teaching in Australian higher education. There
are two tiers of fellowships, ALTC Senior Fellowships and ALTC Associate
Fellowships. Fellows will work on a specific learning and teaching project.
Objectives
- Support, through the provision of time and resources, the endeavours of individuals
to effectively research, develop, disseminate and embed a significant project
that advances learning and teaching in Australian higher education
- Support the endeavours of individuals to identify learning and teaching issues
that impact on the Australian higher education system
- Support the endeavours of individuals to facilitate national approaches to
learning and teaching issues that will impact on the Australian higher education
system
- Support the endeavours of individuals to demonstrate leadership and facilitate
strategic change in higher education institutions
- Foster excellent teaching in higher education
- Bestow prestige and raise the profile of learning and teaching in higher
education institutions
- Develop and support reciprocal national and international partnerships in
learning and teaching in higher education
- Foster the national and international collaborative and networking efforts
of individuals for the purposes of sharing research, benchmarking learning
and teaching processes, and engaging in collegial exchange and support.
ALTC Senior Fellows
There will be four Senior Fellowships, annually, worth $337,000 each. Senior
Fellows will work on a project for one year, with a three month residency at
ALTC and up to three months overseas study. Each Senior Fellow will be supported
by 10 internationally recognised ALTC Affiliates, who collaborate with each
Senior Fellow and contribute to the ALTC Seminar Series. Each
Senior Fellow's home institution will receive $25,000.
ALTC Associate Fellows
There will be ten Associate Fellowships, worth $80,000 each. Associate Fellows will work on a project
for three months with support of $30,000 provided to the home institution.
ALTC Seminar Series
Each ALTC Senior Fellow will facilitate and lead week-long seminar on their project area with up
to 10 internationally recognised scholars, the ALTC Affiliates.
At the end of the academic year there will be a three-day ALTC Associate Fellowship Seminar for
the presentation and workshopping of the projects of the ALTC Associate Fellows with leadership from
the ALTC Senior Fellows.
Winners of the ALTC Awards for Australian University Teaching will be invited to attend or participate
in these seminars.
