Online Teaching Technologies

Workshops in these technologies usually run just before the start of semester. Emails advertising current workshops are sent out in time to book a place. Check the Academic Staff Development Programme to see which workshops are currently running.

CE 6

Regular training is offered in CE 6, the centrally supported learning management system for online course development and delivery. Workshops include:

  • CE 6 overview
  • Designing a CE 6 unit
  • Managing student data
  • Assignments and groups
  • Assessment tools
  • Communicating with your students

Lectopia

Lectopia is a system that automatically makes digital audio recordings of lectures and offers them online within 48 hours. Lectopia is being implemented in selected lecture venues.
This workshop covers:

  • An overview of Lectopia
  • Techniques which assist in good quality recording and overcome some of the limitations of audio only
  • Using the staff tool to provide information and upload PowerPoint slides
  • Copyright

Turnitin

Turnitin checks text submitted in assignments against text in its database and other online resources, and allows students and staff to check whether material has been referenced properly. It can be used by staff who suspect plagiarism and collusion.
The workshop covers how Turnitin integrates with the learning management system and how you and your students can use the software most effectively.

Live Classroom

Live classroom provides a virtual classroom environment with real time voice and visuals.
