Teaching Skills Development Program
Program Description
Tutorials provide a rich learning environment for both students and tutors. The Teaching Skills
Development Program is available in a workshop and on-line format. It includes a number of tips,
strategies and principles for facilitating discussion, handling student diversity, identifying plagiarism
and marking essays, among others. This program is only available to tutors who are currently teaching or will be teaching in Semester 1. Enrolment is essential for either the face-to-face or on-line
program (LMS).
Aims
- Provide tips/strategies for planning tutorials, facilitating discussion, marking essays.
- Develop an understanding of issues of diversity in teaching and learning.
- Introduce Murdoch's approach to academic integrity and plagiarism.

The Teaching Skills Development Program is available online for staff and affiliate staff who are
unable to attend the workshop, or who choose to undertake the program flexibly.
Enrolment for Online Program
Once you have been allocated a staff number, you can enrol online via the link to Learning Management
System (LMS) Enrolment Self Service on your MyTeaching page.
To self enrol for the program:
- login to the Staff Portal – MyMurdoch
- select MyTeaching
- select the link to LMS Enrolment Self Service
- click Enrol for the Teaching Skills Development Program (2009)
